Well, now that I’ve shared with you some of my favorite Essie sheer nail polishes, which include Sugar Daddy, Mademoiselle and Vanity Fairest, I thought I’d keep going with some more beige nude nail colors.

Somehow, as we’re in the midst of winter, and while I’ve found myself wearing quite dark polishes in the past few weeks, I’m slowly going back to really nude, brown, mauve and other greige colors.

I recently got some new nude Essie nail polishes, like Limo-scene and Allure, which we’ll be seeing together today, and I thought a review would come in handy if you’re looking for your latest Essie acquisition.

Here’s what Essie says about the Allure nail polish:

this sheer nail polish with a natural finish is a favorite of brides everywhere. perfect for a french manicure or an alluring nail look.

Why Did I Buy Essie Allure?

Well, after getting most of the sheer pink Essie nail polishes like Ballet Slippers and Mademoiselle, along with Not Just a Pretty Face, I really, really wanted to see what the more nude colors looked like.

So, when I moved back to Paris last summer where I stayed for a few months, and saw there was a French website selling lots of Essie nail polishes on the cheap, I just jumped on the occasion.

The Essie Allure nail polish was retailing for much less than what it usually retails for (about £10 in the UK, and about 10 to 15 euros in France), so I really just got this one along with other popular Essie colors.

That includes some incredible fall nail polish colors like Wicked, Bordeaux and Licorice, some gorgeous red polishes that the brand is so famous for, but also some more popular shades like Muchi Muchi, Mrs Always Right or Flying Solo.

Essie Allure Nail Polish: Application and Thoughts

Allure applies well and evenly with just the first coat on – swatched here are three coats as I am aiming at writing a full sheer Essie nail polish comparison with all the popular shades.

Well, since with one or two coats on, most of these sheers, including Ballet Slippers or Vanity Fairest, are really, really similar.

To the point that comparing Allure and Limo-scene, for instance, I had the biggest trouble in the world – even with three coats on, they both look so identical!

I have found that with Allure, though, you need to be quite careful with the second and three coats to be even – we can still see translucent patches on the swatch pictures here.

Do I mind? Not really, as it shows much more on pictures than in real life.

I have to admit to really liking that even after three coats, Allure still shows the nail a little bit – I love that kind of no makeup-makeup color on the nails.

Essie Allure Nail Polish: Would I Buy Again?

Let me start by saying that Essie Allure is one of the most popular bridal nail polishes used to this day – I can easily understand why, as you can create really pretty French manis with it.

If given the opportunity to get it again, I probably would for the sheer nail polish lore; I love collecting bits and bobs from my favorite drugstore nail polish brands.

But in reality, I wouldn’t really get it again.

I think that on my olive skin, sheer pink nail colors look better, and Allure doesn’t really match that undertone my skin has.

The formula is great (I wouldn’t own many of the Essie sheers otherwise, as they’re all pretty much similar), but we’re a bit too nude yellow for me here.

I would much rather get Sugar Daddy or Mademoiselle, a hundred times over, rather than Allure, even if, to be fair, the color looks quite identical with just one coat on.

Now, I know I’ve reviewed here one of the most popular nail polish colors ever birthed by Essie, but yeah… That’s just not me.

I think this type of color would suit warm skin or medium skin better with just the one coat, and I do have to admit it’s great with a white tip (Barry M Cotton and Essie Blanc are both great for French manis, even if another favorite for that matter is the Nails Inc Find Me in Fulham nail polish).

That could also be a great base for some crazier nail art designs using deeper shades from Essie, like Angora Cardi, Aruba Blue, or even maybe Too Too Hot with the right design!

Until next time!
