There is no time like the present to wear lipgloss, and that’s a principle I go by, what with my love for the wonderful Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb range and other Kiko 3D Hydra Lipgloss I swear by.

In my time doing makeup on photoshoots and retail for MAC Cosmetics, Kiko and Sephora, I found that there are some specific shades of lipstick and lipgloss that go extremely well on dark lips.

And that’s precisely what I want to share with you today, with seven beautiful lipgloss shades for dark lips I’ve been loving lately – pigmented, long lasting, in a word perfect, these are products you might very well love.

7 Gorgeous Lipgloss Shades For Dark Lips from Fenty to Juvia’s Place

It is only after having made my choice of colors that I realized that I picked four Juvia’s Place lip gloss shades, and given the brand’s history of catering to black skin, I guess it makes a bit of sense.

The Juvia’s Place eyeshadow palettes are still some of my favorites to this day, including the Magic, Masquerade and other Zulu palettes – the extreme pigmentation is replicated in the lipglosses from the brand too.

From purple to plum and nude brown lipglosses, these are some great shades to use on dark lips with a lip liner underneath or not.

And by the way, if you’d like to splurge on the lipglosses but would like a cheaper kind of lip liner, these are a few of my favorites:

These are the seven lipglosses I’ve chosen to share with you today:

For the purposes of this review, and to help you choose between various pigmentations, I have chosen some very different lip glosses.

For instance, Juvia’s Place Caramel Rose or the red Cultured are two of the most pigmented, almost vinyl lipsticks, which can be worn on their own or on top of a same-color lip liner to prevent any feathering, especially in the case of the red lipgloss.

For something a bit more everyday on darker lips/skin tones, Juvia’s Place Kenyan Koffee or Saie Sweet, with their mauve undertone, have a sheerer formula which could be applied on the go.

For the perfect dark brown lipgloss shade, though, Chocolate Drip is a classic – great on lip liners like MAC Chestnut, one of my favorites.

And for those of us who love some duochrome – or almost duochrome lipgloss, I have chosen two of my favorite shades ever, Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb in Fuchsia Flex, and Pat McGrath Labs in Astral Flash Dance.

The Fenty Beauty lipgloss is a tad more pigmented than the Pat McGrath Labs one, and I see both going very well on top of a berry lip liner such as MAC Beet, or even a much darker and purple lip liner like MAC Nightmoth or Cyber World.

I also see the Pat McGrath lipgloss going very well on top of the MAC MACximal Captive Audience lipstick, provided you like the purple plum vibe on your lips.

For a more budget option, I often go towards the Juvia’s Place lipglosses; they’re some of my favorite ever, with a gorgeous formula, amazing pigmentation, lasting power and an affordable price.

However, I have to admit that the odd treat, with a Fenty Beauty or Pat McGrath product, is something that can brighten up any sad day.

In addition to picking what I think could be perfect lip gloss shades for dark lips, I have also chosen some of the textures I know are pigmented and non sticky.

Who loves sticky lipgloss?

I do not, except maybe when it comes with bulletproof wear time, like the Maybelline Superstay Vinyl Ink – although they’re not lipglosses, but lipsticks with a glossy finish.

Now, if you are looking for ranges that offer as many glittery shades as they do lacquered lipglosses, these brands have all you need.
