A review of five nude Barry M nail polish colors with swatches – from Honeysuckle to Sheer Bliss, some of the best drugstore sheer, brown and nude nail polishes!

I am so very, overly, extra-ly excited to be telling you about Barry M products today.

If you’ve been here before reading about my favorite sheer pink nail polishes and other summer nail colors, you’ll have seen a few shades from the brand that I love.

I discovered one specific range, the Gelly Hi-Shine nail polish range a little over ten years ago, during my first trip to London, and went on to collect the incredible Barry M lip liners, waterproof eyeliners, palettes and polishes.

This small British drugstore brand has been around for over 40 years, is still family-run, and when you try Barry M products, the falling in love process is so quick – and cheap! – that there’s simply no coming back from it.

There are, however, few nudes in this brand – but they’re just as good, and definitely more wearable that the striking blue Barry M nail polishes.

Lately, I’ve been feeling like writing more round-up guides of the like, and I have a feeling I’ll soon publish articles on topics like my favorite red nail polishes, purple nail colors, or guides like my fave Essie sheer nail polishes.

The latter had been in the works for weeks when I recently published it, after showing you, one by one, colors like Sugar Daddy, Allure, Limo-scene and Vanity Fairest.

I will be telling you of five nude Barry M nail polishes today from two different ranges:

  • Sheer Bliss from the Sheer Strength range
  • Sheer Style from the Sheer Strength range
  • Sheer Joy from the Sheer Strength range
  • Honeysuckle from the Gelly Hi-Shine range
  • Tiramisu from the Gelly Hi-Shine range

Aside from Sheer Bliss, my favorite Barry M Sheer Strength nail polish, which happens to be a soft mauve, all of these are either warm nude or completely brown nail polishes.

That way, whether you have pale, fair, medium or dark skin, you’ll hopefully find something here that suits your skin tone and tastes!

There are currently six shades in the Sheer Strength range, but Sheer Bliss, a really light mauve, is the one that happens to suit my fair olive skin best.

Like all the Sheer Strength nail paints, it retails for £4.49 and is that true blue sheer nail polish which, even in three coats as swatched above, is not fully opaque.

The kind of glazed finish it gives is incredible, and we have here one of my ultimate favorite light mauve nail polish, a perfect everyday color for a sophisticated effect.

Sheer Style is a medium brown nail polish, also swatched here with three coats.

As we get darker with these, you can see that the color gets a tad streakier, making them really suitable that specific skin tones.

Medium skin and tan skin could use the Sheer Style nail polish for an everyday nude; as for me, I like creating nude watercolor nail designs with the darkest browns in this range.

Also swatched with three coats, we now have a beautiful chocolate brown nail polish, Sheer Joy – the darkest from the Sheer Strength collection.

As we can see on my ring finger, it does look streakier on me than Sheer Bliss and would be perfect for medium and dark skin tones.

Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine Honeysuckle Nail Polish Swatch

The Gelly Hi-Shine Honeysuckle nail polish is one I’ve had for over a year, and one I’ve worn quite a lot – I might have to get another bottle during my next trip to London.

Honeysuckle is a kind of warm nude nail polish with slight pink undertones, and one that looks really sophisticated – and opaque in two to three coats.

The result we get with the Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine nail polishes is glossy, with a formula that’s a tad thicker than the Essie or Nails Inc nail polishes – and one that is nonetheless fast-drying.

Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine Tiramisu Nail Polish Swatch

The Gelly Hi-Shine Tiramisu nail paint is a rather cool-toned, mid-tone brown nail polish I can see working well on olive skin and cool skin, as well as medium and dark skin.

I love the slight greyish undertone that Tiramisu offers, which compliments my fair olive skin really well – and can see it working well for nail designs using the white Cotton nail polish.

A great everyday shade, but also the perfect fall nail color – would look amazing for marble nail art using the soft gold Essie Buy Me a Cameo!

Barry M Nude Nail Polish: Would I Buy Again?

If given the opportunity to buy any of these nude Barry M nail polishes again, I would get:

  • Sheer Bliss
  • Honeysuckle
  • Tiramisu

I would not necessarily purchase Sheer Style and Sheer Joy again, as they’re too dark to be worn as sheer nail polishes on my skin tone, and I don’t use them often enough for nail designs.

However, as soon as I won’t be wearing my summer nails anymore and we’ll start transitioning to fall and winter nail colors, I will definitely dust them off and create some pretty looks!

If there’s one thing that the Barry M brand knows to design to perfection, it’s their nail polish products.

In the past, I used to have dozens of the Gelly Hi-Shine Nail Paints, and sadly, since I move around a lot, I had to let go of many of them.

However, from green nail polishes like the Eucalyptus Nail Paint to the bright, hot red Hot Chilli and the statement and electric Blue Guava, they’re all amazing.

I currently own about 20 Barry M nail polishes, and in time, will share all the swatches I have been working on.
