First launched in the Step Out of Line 2023 collection for Essie’s fall colors, Dance ‘Til Dawn is a shade you wouldn’t necessarily expect for fall, but rather for spring or winter.

Anyhoo – if you love muted nail polishes, you’ll love this one – oscillating between pastel, moody and nude, it’s an interesting shade to have in your stash.

And while this one has been discontinued, you can easily find it on various fashion and makeup websites: I personally got it off Notino along with two other Step Out of Line colors; Meet Me at Midnight and Full Blast.

Why Did I Buy Essie Dance Til Dawn?

I have loved sheer and nude Essie nail polishes for a while now; from Mademoiselle to Limo-scene and Lady Like, and from Allure to Not Just a Pretty Face, they just compliment every skin tone.

When it comes to Dance ‘Til Dawn, when I saw the Step Out of Line collection at my local beauty store in Rome, I fell in love with it at first sight.

I didn’t need a new nude nail polish, with all I already have in my stash with the Nails Inc Caught in the Nude and other Barry M Sheer Strength polishes.

But it looked really nice, moody but neutral enough to suit my olive skin – and so I slipped it in my basket.

As with pretty much any pale nude or pastel nail polish, Dance ‘Til Dawn applies fully opaque in three coats.

The waiting time between each coat is minimal, as with all my Essie nail polishes, which means you’re quickly done with your many and can get on your way.

This muted, pale grey pink color is what I consider one of the most beautiful in all of Essie’s range, and do hope that new, similar shades will be released – although I do already have Pillow Talk the Talk, Essie Blanc and Marshmallow in my collection.

However, none is so lightly pink with such a strong white base, aside from, maybe, Ballet Slippers, which however has more white and less pigmentation in its color, being a sheer nail polish – and that soft pinkness is adorable.

If given the opportunity to purchase Dance ‘Til Dawn again, I would.

It’s one of the prettiest, lightest nude nail polishes in my collection, and this pink undertone really makes it special.

There’s nothing else to say about this one; from the pigmentation to the large brush and nice formula, it’s a white-ish nude worth getting, if only for gorgeous moody pastel nail designs.

What was really interesting about Essie’s Fall 2023 collection was how cool-toned it looked.

Often, nail polish brands will include much warmer undertones in their fall collections, and this time, the coolness really did it for me.

If Dance ‘Til Dawn is an Essie nail polish I would buy again a hundred times over, the two other shades I mentioned earlier from the same collection, Meet Me at Midnight and Full Blast, are some of my favorites in my stash.

One is a deep khaki nail polish and the latter is a deep burgundy color – really nice to apply, and with a gorgeous statement effect!
