All the mauve Essie nail polish colors are beautiful; the pigmentation and formula are always really nice, and they’re simply a pleasure to wear.

Mauve is a makeup color I have loved ever since I got into makeup – get a light mauve for pale and fair skin, or a deep mauve, almost burgundy for medium and dark skin, and you get a stunning result.

For instance, for dark skin, Angora Cardi is a great color to use as a nude polish, while for a more neutral effect on fair skin, Lady Like is amazing.

So is Demure Vix, which we’ll see together today, even better suited than Lady Like if you’d like a touch of extra on your mauve nails.

Here’s what Essie says about the Demure Vix nail polish:

walk the line between naughty and nice in compelling cocoa mauve nail polish. hints of iridescence play up your daringly dual nature.

Why Did I Buy Essie Demure Vix?

I remember getting the Demure Vix nail polish at Superdrug, and if my memory serves me right, I was overly excited when I first saw the slight duochrome in the bottle.

As I said, mauve nail polish is something I especially love, and I like how nude yet interesting Demure Vix (sometimes called Demure Vixen) looked – I simply couldn’t wait to try it.

I got a few other colors at the same time; Birthday Girl, which I’d wanted to try for years, but also Buy Me a Cameo, a really pretty soft gold.

Essie Demure Vix Nail Polish: Application and Thoughts

Demure Vix applies really well – two coats are enough to get full opacity on the nails.

The mauve color shows up well, with tiny purple glitter that would almost make it look light a duochrome nail polish – we’ve got the same effect in other colors from the brand like You Do Blue and Ferris of Them All.

It’s not so sheer that you could use it as a nail topper, and is really that easy-to-apply color perfect when you don’t have much time for an elaborate mani.

Essie Demure Vix Nail Polish: Would I Buy Again?

If I was given the opportunity to buy Demure Vix again, while the formula is really one of the best I’ve tried in the Essie nail polish range, I would not buy it again.

The quality is there, as is a quite interesting color, and it might look really good on my olive skin (mauve and muted/dark cool-toned colors look especially great on me.

So, it is just a matter of taste in color that makes me state that I wouldn’t get Demure Vix again – I would rather get another bottle of Lady Like (lighter mauve), Clothing Optional (more brown) or Angora Cardi (deep mauve).

All three of these come without the tiny sparkle, which is something I have found I prefer when it comes to mauve nail polish – but glitter, in general, isn’t really my thing, as you’ve seen when I reviewed the popular Birthday Girl.

Fall nail polish colors, especially from Essie, are simply great – I wish I would have loved how Demure Vix looked on me, as I do appreciate seeing it through the bottle.

I just think that there are colors better suited to my skin tone.

But, who knows, I might actually use it again and again, and it might grow on me! For now, though, I have really been feeling Essie Clothing Optional and Angora Cardi lately.

Yes, even if we’re in the dead of July and we would all rather wear some pastels and bright summer nail polish colors!

Until next time!
