I love really sheer pink nail polishes, and that’s a fact I already shared with you when I wrote about Mademoiselle, Not Just a Pretty Face and Ballet Slippers.

Recently, I bought all of the remaining sheer Essie nail polishes I didn’t yet have in my stash, enjoying a really good sale on a French makeup website that I didn’t really have access to when I was living in Rome and London.

That’s how I told you about the Vanity Fairest nail polish, too, another really beautiful nude nail polish I didn’t think I’d love at first, but with which I’ve fallen utterly in love with.

Today is all about the Sugar Daddy nail polish, though, one of the most popular Essie nail polishes I currently have in my stash – breaking news…

I absolutely love it.

Here’s what Essie says about the Sugar Daddy nail polish:

Spoil yourself rotten with a sweet pink. this sheer nail polish is everything you’ve always wanted in a french mani.

Why Did I Buy Essie Sugar Daddy?

Ever since I started using Mademoiselle and Ballet Slippers a lot, along with some other beautiful sheer polishes from Essie, I knew that at some point, I’d get all the colors I didn’t yet own.

This includes the really light pink nail polishes, but also more beige and nude colors like Allure and Limo-scene, which I recently showed you.

They’re really pretty, but more suitable for warm skin rather than skin tones like mine, which tend to be more olive or cool-toned.

I saw there was a sale on that makeup website I had been eyeing for a couple of days, and decided to get all of the remaining nude nail polishes I didn’t have, along with lots of fall nail colors as well.

That’s how I also got Wicked and Bordeaux, two gorgeous dark red polishes, along with Licorice, In Stitches, Mrs Always Right and one I’d been feeling like getting for months, Flying Solo.

(By the way, Flying Solo was released in the same collection as You Do Blue and Ferris of Them All, which are all really gorgeous all year round!).

Essie Sugar Daddy Nail Polish: Application and Thoughts

Here are three coats of Sugar Daddy swatched so it would be easier for me to write a full round-up of all my sheer Essie nail polishes – you can see it’s a really soft pink with a slightly warm undertone.

In real life, I usually only wear one coat of the Sugar Daddy nail polish when I want a simple, sophisticated mani and don’t want to take an hour to do my nails and wait for two or three coats to dry like I do when I wear purple, mauve or teal nail polish.

Essie’s Sugar Daddy applies really well, evens out fast, and ends up giving a *quartz* effect on the nails that I’ve never been to enjoy with any other nail polish, even the Barry M Sheer Bliss nail polish or Nails Inc Knightsbridge Nights Out.

Essie Sugar Daddy Nail Polish: Would I Buy Again?

What’s important to note is that the Sugar Daddy nail polish is better to wear with just the one coat rather than with two or three coats to get the result we have on the pictures here.

The more coats you wear, the faster the nail polish will chip out, no matter what brand it is.

So, with Sugar Daddy, you’ll get a result that’s slightly pink, slightly whitening even, but do remember you’ll have to take your time to get the result pictured here, with top coat on top, if you want to keep it for days.

Seeing as it’s incredibly smooth to apply, even and simply gorgeous when dry, if given the opportunity to purchase Sugar Daddy again, I definitely would.

Essie Sheer Nail Polish Comparison: Sugar Daddy vs Vanity Fairest Swatches

pink Sheer Nails - Essie Sugar Daddy vs vanity fairest Nail Polish Swatches

Since I wrote about the Vanity Fairest nail polish some time ago and that this one and Sugar Daddy are sometimes mistaken for one another, I thought a comparison picture would come in handy.

Here are the main differences between Sugar Daddy and Vanity Fairest:

  • Sugar Daddy: more pink, more opaque, no glitter
  • Vanity Fairest: more white, sheerer, with tiny sparkles inside

I don’t know what it is about Essie and me.

I’ve loved the brand ever since I tried their Haute in the Heat nail polish, which, if I remember well, was a limited edition and gorgeous berry nail polish color.

Then, I moved on to their beautiful, everyday mauve nail polishes, and later on, I started using their sheer and darker shades, like Angora Cardi, Clothing Optional and Off Tropic.

Essie is one of the best drugstore nail polish brands you’ll ever find in my opinion – at least, that’s how I feel and I am always expectant of their seasonal collections.

But when it comes to the Sugar Daddy nail polish…

It’s a classic that you should have in your stash, especially if you often feel too lazy for your nails to dry, like me.

Until next time!
