With Honeylove, we have one of the most popular nude MAC lipsticks – and that’s a fact.

Perfect with many different lip liners, from the quirky Stone to the berry Beet and super dark MAC lip liners like Chestnut or Cyber World, Honeylove makes for an interesting take on a light neutral.

MAC Honeylove Lipstick: What Makes It Different?

Described as a light beige-toned rose, Honeylove, from the MACximal Silky Matte lipstick range released a few months ago, almost feels like the little sister to the newest version of Velvet Teddy.

A very light pink that blends effortlessly with lip liners, that feels like a thick lip balm and stays on for hours on end.

That’s what we have with Honeylove, with a texture that remains matte and comfy without cracking or feathering.

In terms of skin tones on which Honeylove is more flattering, we’re just going to see the undertone of the lipstick.

Since it’s rather cool-toned, it will be more suitable (on its own) for cool skin and olive skin.

Now, if you have warm skin, you can always make cool lipsticks work provided you choose the right lip liner, something warmer-toned, but not so warm much that there’s a mismatch between the two products.

MAC Honeylove Lipstick and Lip Liner Combos with MAC Spice and Whirl Swatches

These are the two MAC lip liners I’ve chosen for Honeylove:

MAC Spice lip liner: this cinnamon pink is warmer-toned than Honeylove but its pink undertone makes for a gorgeous shading color
MAC Whirl lip liner: Whirl is much pinker than Spice, and more brown-toned – this is another perfect pick to wear with Honeylove

If you would like to wear a darker lip liner, go for something cool-toned.

There are many different, affordable lip liners on the market to try if you’re not sure which will go well with the Honeylove lipstick.

My favorites are the Kiko Smart Fusion lip liners, the Barry M lip liners, and, if you’re in the UK, the Studio London lip liners and MUA Makeup Academy lip pencils at Superdrug are also great and cost next to nothing.

MAC MACximal Honeylove Lipstick vs Matte Honeylove Comparison Swatches

As you can see from the swatches of the MACximal Honeylove lipstick vs the former classic matte lipstick, the MACximal version is much more pink, where the former shade was more beige, warmer-toned.

Where the difference will mostly be noted is when trying out different lip liners with Honeylove – for instance, the former shade used to work really well with the MAC Chicory lip liner.

On the other hand, the new shade wouldn’t look that good with Chicory, and would look prettier with Whirl.

And that’s all I have to say about this new, very pretty nude lipstick from MAC!

If you’d like to find something even pinker, the Viva Planet lipstick, from the same MACximal range, is even more beautiful in my eyes, and perfect to wear on the daily with lip pencils like Soar or Whirl.

On the eyes, you can go neutral or really big with this type of lip color.

I like to go for multichrome or duochrome eyeliners, very metallic eyeshadows, or just two thick coats of an electric blue mascara when I’m wearing nude lips.

On the nails, if you want to stay on the nude spectrum, Essie Mademoiselle or Not Just a Pretty Face would look great.

And for something more statement, Nails Inc Dream Dust (a perfect duochrome pink nail polish) or Kiko 239 Minty Frost (a gorgeous mint green polish for some contrast!) would also look stunning with the Honeylove lipstick!
