Milky nails are all the rage these days; I feel like we all want some kind of reset and are slowly going back to milky and sheer nail polishes.
I’m here for it.
I actually collect, and have most of the sheers from OPI, and almost all of the sheers from Essie, which include Marshmallow, one of my latest purchases.
I might actually do a little comparison post between Essie Marshmallow and OPI Funny Bunny, come to think of it, since they’re both so famous!
But today’s all about Marshmallow, one of the best selling colors from Essie: let’s see if it lives up to the hype!

sugary, soft and sweet. this color is totally irresistible. for french manicures, cloudy sheer white nail polish is confection perfection.
Essie Marshmallow Nail Polish: Why Did I Buy It?

Marshmallow is one of the latest Essie nail polishes I got from the Original, core collection.
I purchased it alongside some other really light and pastel nail polishes, like Muchi Muchi, Fiji and Peak Show, but remember that I got many more colors in my order like Wicked and Bordeaux.

I feel like I might have wanted to get all the prettiest Essie colors, and since I’m very much into milky nail polish, what would have been better than Marshmallow, one of the most famous on the market?

Essie Marshmallow Nail Polish: Application and Thoughts

Marshmallow applies streaky on the first coat, on the second, and a bit less on the third coat no matter how much bottle-shaking I do.
Its formula is quite light, very fluid, like many of my Essie nail polishes, which of course include the sheers.

If I had to compare Essie Marshmallow and OPI Funny Bunny, I’d immediately say that Funny Bunny has a thicker formula than Marshmallow does.
Once locked in with one of my current favorite top coats, Essie Gel Couture top coat, CND Vinylux top coat and Seche Vite, the color stays on for days with minimal tip wear.

Essie Marshmallow Nail Polish: Buy Again or Buy Something Else?

If given the opportunity to purchase the Essie Marshmallow nail polish again, I most certainly would not.
Spoiler alert; I’ve said the same thing about OPI Funny Bunny.

Good, performant milky nail polish is not the easiest to come by, I know that.
But when I purchase a sheer nail polish, I’m expecting to be able to apply one, two coats tops, and be on my way.

If a well-established nail polish brand can’t give me a good nail polish at Essie’s prices, it’s not okay, especially seeing as cheaper brands like Catrice, Essence and Barry M all offer better milky white nail polishes.

Milky Nails: Essie Marshmallow Nail Polish Swatches

Pretty short review of Essie Marshmallow; I’ve been known to write much more about other nail polishes, right?
Well, if you’re looking for a good milky white nail polish, I’d go for something else.
If you have the budget, Manucurist Milky White is one of my go-to’s for milky white nails; I’m yet to find one that tops it.

However, if you’re more on a low-budget type of thing, Barry M Sheer Strength in Sheer Luck could be a little similar, although closer to Ballet Slippers.
Catrice Milky Not Guilty from the Sheer Beauties range is another great pick, really amazing considering the price point, and even from the first coat.
All in all, Essie’s Marshmallow nail polish is wearable, and compared to OPI Funny Bunny, is the one I’d pick if I could only choose between both.
But not really my jam.
Until next time!
