Notino Gel Effect Nail Polish Review and First Thoughts

Notino Gel Effect Nail Polish Review and First Thoughts swatches - nude, brown, yellow, red, purple, blue, green, mauve

A review of the Notino Gel Effect nail polish, thoughts, color comparisons and more – some of the most pigmented and affordable nail polishes on the market!

I’ve been shopping for makeup, perfume and nail polish on the Notino website for a few years now; that’s where I got many of my Essie nail polishes, but also some of my favorite Sol de Janeiro products a while back.

In addition to the many sales Notino always has going on such and such product, they’ve recently released their Gel Effect Nail Polish range – and I’ve fallen deep, deep in love.

If you’ve been here before, you know I love discovering new, affordable, and mostly drugstore nail polish brands (same goes with makeup, though – love me some Barry M or Essence!).

Well, I’ve been trying out said Gel Effect nail polishes, and I just couldn’t wait to tell you all about them: if you’ve been looking for some specific shades, I’ve purchased 28 colors and have been thoroughly trying them out ever since.

Notino Gel Effect Nail Polish Review and First Thoughts

Notino Gel Effect Nail Polish Review avis swatches - nude, brown, yellow, red, purple, blue, green, mauve

What’s just really sad about the situation I’m in, and one any and all nail bloggers will agree on, is that since we’re deep in wintertime, my nails look and feel more brittle and more fragile at the moment.

That’s why, despite not being able to swatch the Notino Gel Effect nail polishes right now, I still wanted to show you the wide range of colors you can find on the website.

If I’ve personally gotten 28 colors (they’ve been on sale for quite some time, retailing for 2.80 euros instead of 3.50, which is already such a low price!), there are currently no fewer than 65 in the Gel Effect range.

Anyhoo.

This guide will be on the shorter side, as I’ll be focusing on my first thoughts after trying out some of those new outstanding colors, but rest assured: just like I did with the Essie or Barry M nail polishes, the swatches will soon be on their way!

Here’s what Notino says about their Gel Effect Nail Polish range:

Give your nails a beautiful look with perfect shine and depth.
Thanks to its high coverage and fast-drying formula, Notino Gel Effect Nail Polish gives you a professional manicure anywhere, anytime.
It does not require the use of a UV lamp, but still promises results similar to gel polish. Create a charming, long lasting nail look.

Notino promises an ‘excellent gel effect without the use of a UV lamp’, a quick-drying formula, high pigmentation, and great lasting power.

I’ve personally found that many of these would only require one coat, but Notino recommends applying two before using a clear topcoat on top.

348 Tuscany Stay 383 Old Photo
434 Burnt Bronze 373 Terraflame
  • 320 Nude Pink: a really light, creamy pink polish – not comparable to Essie Dance Til Dawn, but kind of in the same vein
  • 337 Self Care: a light greige nail polish – there are few on the market, so happy with this one! Same vibe as Essie Lady Like, but in a more grey version
  • 203 Cantaloupe: a shimmery nude nail polish, neutral but still with somewhat warm undertones
  • 348 Tuscany Stay: the perfect nude nail polish for cool/neutral/olive skin, not too warm nor too cool-toned
  • 383 Old Photo: a dark brown nail polish with slight red undertones
  • 434 Burnt Bronze: a desaturated brick nail polish, the type of reddish brown I’ve been loving lately
  • 373 Terraflame: a warm caramel brown nail polish

Only one of these Gel Effect nail polishes is shimmery slash metallic; 203 Cantaloupe – there are many more in the darker shades of the range.

Edit: I’ve recently felt like wearing three of the nude polishes shown above together and taken swatch pictures, should you want to get a feel of the colors and texture: 348 Tuscany Stay, 373 Terraflame, 383 Old Photo.

Yellow, Orange, Pink and Purple Notino Gel Effect Nail Polish Colors
  • 699 So What?: a deep metallic purple nail polish – so gorgeous for fall and winter!
  • 595 Dark Mind: a stunning metallic plum slash burgundy nail polish – would almost remind me of the MAC Rebel lipstick!
  • 450 Kiss Ready: the only red nail polish in the Gel Effect range, a really blue-toned, bright red
  • 563 Candy Factory: a really bright pink nail polish, the perfect nail color for summer
  • 165 Championchic: a metallic yellow nail polish – when have we ever seen this happen outside of the Kleancolor polishes?! And opaque in just two coats?!
  • 230 Molten Lava: a really interesting color that oscillates between yellow, orange and brown – a toned-down orange, if you will
  • 277 Ambiance: a proper orangey caramel nail polish, amazing for spring or the beginning of fall

Out of these seven colors, three are metallic nail polishes; 699 So What?, 595 Dark Mind and 165 Championchic – incredibly pigmented and simply breathtaking, and the rest are gorgeous cremes.

Purple, Mauve and Mint Notino Gel Effect Nail Polish Colors

Purple, Mauve and Mint Notino Gel Effect Nail Polish Colors
  • 660 Witch Vibes: a cool-toned, dark metallic purple
  • 610 Galaxy Dust: a metallic greyish purple nail polish
  • 605 Sprinkle: a cool-toned mauve with a metallic finish
  • 524 Rosy Whispers: a very cool-toned mauve nail polish
  • 920 Gemini: a metallic pinkish nude that would almost look duochrome depending on the lighting
  • 909 Swan Lake: a duochrome and glittery nail polish, white base with purple/pink duochrome and gold glitter inside
  • 818 Matcha Latte: a very light green nail polish, would feel like a mint green, but actually more warm-toned

In this row, we’ve got four metallic nail polishes, two creamy polishes and two either slightly or fully duochromes.

Shade 909 Swan Lake is probably one of the most interesting I’ve come across lately (other than my beloved oil slick nail polishes that I can’t get enough of!), I mean, both duochrome and glittery?

That’s crazy – and just beautiful.

Green and Blue Notino Gel Effect Nail Polish Colors

Green and Blue Notino Gel Effect Nail Polish Colors
  • 830 Riviera: the perfect bright blue green nail polish for spring and summer – I would also see that in winter, just to brighten up a cold, grey day
  • 759 Ice Cold: one of my favorites, a completely metallic teal blue that leans more toward blue than green
  • 768 Secret Legacy: another favorite, a rich metallic royal blue nail polish that you could almost compare to Essie Aruba Blue, although this one is slightly darker
  • 897 Crown Jewel: one of the prettiest metallic green nail polishes you’ll ever see – a gorgeous color oscillating between moss and forest green, so smooth, pigmented and breathtaking!
  • 883 Seaweed: a midtone khaki green polish, creamy and simply perfect for fall (and why not spring)
  • 866 Verdant: another favorite, a rich type of chartreuse nail polish color in a creamy finish
  • 840 Mint Condition: a midtone, cool-toned green, not that much of a mint in the color, but stunning – feels a little bit like Essence Inner Peas

In this row, we have three completely metallic nail polishes, the rest are cremes.

I would have gotten other greens and blues, but my stash is getting really full with these types of shades and I really wanted to try out colors I didn’t yet have.

PS. I have written a full review of 830 Riviera, 840 Mint Condition and 897 Crown Jewel with swatches, should you want to see the difference.

Notino Gel Effect Nail Polish Review and First Thoughts

Notino Gel Effect Nail Polish Review and First Thoughts swatches - nude, brown, yellow, red, purple, blue, green, mauve

Ah, boy – I’m really sad that I can’t swatch these Notino Gel Effect nail polishes just yet: I like my swatches to be as spick-and-span as possible, and well…

I guess I’ll have to be patient. Ugh.

All in all, from the colors I’ve already tried out, the Gel Effect nail polishes are some of my new favorites of the year.

Granted, it’s only, still, January, but I know I’ll be using these a lot going forward.

Especially because they are indeed ultra-pigmented and dry super, super fast.

I’d say it would have been nice to have even more metallic, duochrome, and maybe even multichrome nail polishes in that range (I’ve been loving the Layla Cosmetics Rarity range for that oil slick/multichrome effect so much!)…

But hey, 65 colors is already amazing, and all I can say for sure is that Notino has done an outstanding job with that Gel Effect range.

Until next time!
